Our own Bob Lyons Sr. goes live on the airways with endless ideas for making this Christmas the merriest!

podcast-logo-Porch Ideas NetworkOutdoor Lighting Perspectives of Nashville was filling the airwaves last week when our own Bob Lyons Sr. was featured on Porch Ideas Network via podcast with Mary and Dave. The segment featured Christmas Light Decorating Ideas for Your Front Porch and Yard and secrets on creating wonderful holiday light displays and installing outdoor Christmas lights safely.

This informative and fun segment covered every area of holiday lighting, including choosing the colors you like best and desired location of your display. Here’s a peek:

Colorful Nashville Holiday Lighting

“What you first have to decide is what color you want to use or whether you want to use all white or clear. And then you have to decide whether you want to augment it with different features like starbursts, wreaths, garland, or other holiday decorations.”

“Then you have to decide if it’s better to concentrate on one area of your yard or porch (and do it really well) or broaden out (and possibly not do as good a job overall).”

The variety of colored LED lighting used in holiday lighting displays was also covered at great length during the segment. In addition, proper spacing of holiday lighting, power requirements, tree wrap holiday lighting and how we combine strings of lights for a cohesive effect were all hot topics!

We can’t divulge ALL our secrets! But you can listen to the full audio program with Bob Lyons Sr. for more lighting tips.

As the Nashville area’s premier outdoor lighting company, we have been very busy the past few months getting some of the most beloved locales in the area adorned with holiday lights in honor of the season. From adding holiday cheer in The Gulch, to being bestowed the honor of designing and lighting The Capital tree for the second consecutive year, we can now look back and enjoy the fruits of our labor! This year, we were also asked to design and install the holiday lighting for the well-known Loveless Cafe.

The Loveless Cafe is a Nashville hot spot that is steeped in history. The Loveless has been a fixture in the Nashville area for over sixty years. With a diverse history, the cafe serves up true Southern staples like fried chicken, country ham and biscuits. Since its beginning in the 1940’s, the cafe has evolved to include The Loveless Barn ,which is a 4,800 sq. ft. venue that has become the trendiest place around for large-scale events, parties and even weddings.  The Loveless Barn is also home to Music City Roots: Live from the Loveless Cafe which is filmed and recorded there every Wednesday.

As if it was even possible to make the Loveless Cafe even lovelier in honor of the holidays, we did! As part of this stunning holiday lighting design we installed a 25-foot garland tree and adorned it with lighted starbursts, mini-lights and iconic C7 LED lights. We also installed a retro-inspired mix of holiday lighting around the cafe itself, including roofline lights, wrapped tree lighting and various lighted starbursts. The completed project is nothing short of magical!

Our talented holiday lighting designers outdid themselves by putting together a timeless outdoor holiday lighting plan for this beloved landmark that is steeped in nostalgia and fun. We encourage everyone to stop by the Loveless Cafe during the holidays to take in all the goodness this venue has to offer, and all the lovely holiday lighting that is sure to please patrons young and old!

Outdoor Lighting Perspectives of Nashville lights the capital tree in Nashville for the second consecutive year!

Outdoor Lighting Perspectives of Nashville was chosen to light the Nashville Capital Christmas tree for the second consecutive year. Our diligent efforts came to fruition as the Governor, Bill Haslam and his wife, Crissy, kicked off Christmas in the capital with the annual tree lighting ceremony this past Monday.

The tree selected as this year’s Capital Tree is 55-foot Norway Spruce chosen from the Cumberland Forest, where the University of Tennessee uses the roughly 8,000 acres of land for research, due to a storm that hit Nashville a few years ago. Outdoor Lighting Perspectives of Nashville is using over one mile of lights to illuminate this majestic tree via an 80 ft. articulated lift to ensure every light is placed in the perfect spot to shine brightest. We are also topping this beauty with a three-foot jeweled star as the finishing touch.

WBIR-TV out of Eastern Tennessee recently aired a segment outlining the selection of the majestic tree chosen as this year’s annual Christmas conifer. The WBIR article pointed out that up until this year, the state capitol had been using a donated tree.  This year’s  tree was carefully selected from the Cumberland Forest after it was used in a University of Tennessee study on growing Christmas trees on abandoned strip mines where it was planted as part of the study back in 1985.

In 2009, when a windstorm blew over the capitol Christmas tree and urgent help was needed  for a replacement, the Cumberland Forest was there to lend a hand. Upon receiving the news, they immediately began looking around the property and submitted a few pictures of some trees that could serve as a quickly needed replacement.

Our holiday outdoor lighting is the stuff that dreams are made of, goose bumps and all!

The gift of light outdoor holiday lighting

Don’t miss out on the magic of outdoor holiday lighting for the upcoming season.

As a child I remember how holiday outdoor lighting would provide me with a larger-than-life-fascination. My family and I would pile into the car on a brisk winter evening to ride from neighborhood to neighborhood looking at the beautiful Christmas lights residents had in their yards. These enchanted rides made me feel as if I were riding through a winter wonderland and gave me many fond memories I still carry with me today. Even though I am now an adult, looking at a beautiful holiday lighting display makes me feel like a kid again, goose bumps and all.

I know that most Nashville homeowners share the same endearment for  outdoor holiday lighting. Being the Nashville areas premier outdoor  lighting company we realize that outdoor holiday lighting is so much more than installing a few strands of holiday lights, it is a means to bringing emotion and joy during the holiday season. At Outdoor Lighting Perspectives of Nashville, our designs are the stuff that dreams are made of. We offer a vast array of colors, themes, and installation techniques that reflect the timeless Christmas lighting of the past to cutting edge holiday lighting designs that make you say WOW!

Nashville TN outdoor Christmas lights lighted trees and garlands

This holiday outdoor lighting display uses elegant lighted strands as well as C9 roofline lighting.

Our classic holiday lighting options include C9 roofline lighting which promote  a subtle, charming effect. The C9 is very economically priced and is very energy-efficient. C9′s come in transparent and opaque as well as many colors to complete your holiday display. Today’s C9′s are also available in the super energy-efficient LED, that cost only pennies to operate but pack a big punch for the money in terms of ambiance and beauty. We also offer a rainbow of lighted LED strings and tree wrap lighting that are easy on the eyes and on the wallet in terms of  operating costs. Outdoor Lighting Perspectives of Nashville also offers  3-Dimensional lighted displays along with lighted LED wreaths and garlands to finish out your holiday display seamlessly. If you can dream it — we can make it happen in lights!

Snowfall lighting

The magic of snowfall lighting can be yours this holiday season.

If your taste in outdoor Christmas lighting has you thinking a little more out of the box we also have a wide range of unique holiday lighting elements and techniques we can use to set your holiday display apart from all the rest. These include colored and clear festoon lighting which is as romantic as it is beautiful, and one of our newest holiday tree lighting techniques which is called snowfall lighting. Snowfall lighting, or meteor lighting as it is often called, uses cool LED lights that mimic the look of gently falling snow against a night sky. This technology utilizes the super-efficient LED lights and automatically illuminates at random to create a stunning effect.

holiday OLP garland

We also offer a wide array of lighted wreaths and garland to complete your design.

Our holiday lighting program takes the guesswork out of designing your lighting this year. We design, order, install, remove and store your  holiday display for you and all you have to do is sit back and enjoy the season with the ones you love. No more fighting with tangled icicle lights and teetering off the ladder risking an injury. No more worries of the hazards that over exerted circuits can cause. No more rituals of turning on the lights one strand at a time. With our holiday lighting program we can also program your indoor and outdoor lighting displays to operate in unison by using lighting control animation that delivers set it and forget it convenience.

Outdoor Lighting Perspectives of Nashville has been selected to light the Capital Tree in Nashville again this year!

Anticipated capital tree in Nashville for 2013

A first look at the tree chosen to become the TN Capital Tree for the 2013 holiday season!

We are very honored to announce Outdoor Lighting Perspectives of Nashville  has been chosen to light the Capital Tree in Nashville for the upcoming holiday season.  The tree will be lit in honor of the 2013 Christmas season and marks the second year Outdoor Lighting Perspectives of Nashville has been asked to design and install the annual lighting for the tree which will be  located in the Legislative Plaza in downtown Nashville for all to enjoy! In 2012, the Capital Tree was an evergreen in excess of 30 feet. We used approximately 4,000 LED C7 lights which were carefully selected and placed within the tree along with red and gold ornaments to make it shine like a jewel against the Nashville skyline. This year’s tree promises to be even more breathtaking than its predecessor as we are filled with anticipation to begin lighting this lovely giant of a tree!

The tree that has been selected as this year’s Capital Tree sits a majestic 30 feet high and will be illuminated using over one mile of lights! We have been given the task of transforming this conifer to magnificence in just two days. During this time, our installers will be instilling the use of an 80 ft. articulated lift to ensure every light is placed in the perfect spot to shine brightest, as well as topping this beauty with a three-foot jeweled star.

Capital holiday tree lighting

Governor Haslam and the First Lady lighting the Capital Tree during last year’s illustrious event.

In keeping with tradition, the Governor of TN will flip the switch to light the Capital Tree during the annual Capital Tree lighting event. Last year, the tree was brought to life amid a crowd of Tennessee’s finest as the focus of an evening filled with holiday cheer, food, entertainment and even horse & buggy rides. We anticipate this year’s event will be another showstopper and we will keep you informed when the date and time for the event has been finalized — stay tuned — more to come!
