The Excitement Mounts as Outdoor Lighting Perspectives of Nashville Lights the Capitol Tree for 5th Consecutive Year!

2016-christmas-tree-at-the-capitol-downtown-nashvilleEach and every day here at Outdoor Lighting Perspectives of Nashville we are proud and honored to serve the outdoor lighting needs for homeowners and business owners all over Nashville and the surrounding area. Our success has never been something we take for granted and we take pride in every installation, from the smallest maintenance call to the over-the-top holiday lighting displays that require months of planning. With this in mind, we cannot convey the feeling we get when we are asked to design and install a lighting display that will bring so much joy to so many — like the Christmas tree at the Capitol in downtown Nashville.

This is our fifth consecutive year of being asked to illuminate the tree. The tree chosen to grace the capitol for holiday 2016 was cut down in Hermitage and it stands 35 feet tall and 24 feet wide. Outdoor Lighting Perspectives of Nashville is finishing the tree with a mix of glittering red and gold decorations and warm white LED lights — that’s all the details I can convey as to not to give away too many spoilers before this beauty is lit! I can however, share a few of the “in progress” images we shot while our crews were working hard to get this majestic tree ready for its unveiling…

Governor Haslam will continue the tradition of flipping the switch for all to enjoy!

To help get you in the festive spirit and in honor of all the Christmases past, Outdoor Lighting Perspectives of Nashville has put together a little video featuring the last four years of having the honor to be involved with this amazing project…enjoy!

Outdoor Lighting Perspectives of Nashville was chosen to light the Nashville Capital Christmas tree for the second consecutive year. Our diligent efforts came to fruition as the Governor, Bill Haslam and his wife, Crissy, kicked off Christmas in the capital with the annual tree lighting ceremony this past Monday.

The tree selected as this year’s Capital Tree is 55-foot Norway Spruce chosen from the Cumberland Forest, where the University of Tennessee uses the roughly 8,000 acres of land for research, due to a storm that hit Nashville a few years ago. Outdoor Lighting Perspectives of Nashville is using over one mile of lights to illuminate this majestic tree via an 80 ft. articulated lift to ensure every light is placed in the perfect spot to shine brightest. We are also topping this beauty with a three-foot jeweled star as the finishing touch.

WBIR-TV out of Eastern Tennessee recently aired a segment outlining the selection of the majestic tree chosen as this year’s annual Christmas conifer. The WBIR article pointed out that up until this year, the state capitol had been using a donated tree.  This year’s  tree was carefully selected from the Cumberland Forest after it was used in a University of Tennessee study on growing Christmas trees on abandoned strip mines where it was planted as part of the study back in 1985.

In 2009, when a windstorm blew over the capitol Christmas tree and urgent help was needed  for a replacement, the Cumberland Forest was there to lend a hand. Upon receiving the news, they immediately began looking around the property and submitted a few pictures of some trees that could serve as a quickly needed replacement.

Anticipated capital tree in Nashville for 2013

A first look at the tree chosen to become the TN Capital Tree for the 2013 holiday season!

We are very honored to announce Outdoor Lighting Perspectives of Nashville  has been chosen to light the Capital Tree in Nashville for the upcoming holiday season.  The tree will be lit in honor of the 2013 Christmas season and marks the second year Outdoor Lighting Perspectives of Nashville has been asked to design and install the annual lighting for the tree which will be  located in the Legislative Plaza in downtown Nashville for all to enjoy! In 2012, the Capital Tree was an evergreen in excess of 30 feet. We used approximately 4,000 LED C7 lights which were carefully selected and placed within the tree along with red and gold ornaments to make it shine like a jewel against the Nashville skyline. This year’s tree promises to be even more breathtaking than its predecessor as we are filled with anticipation to begin lighting this lovely giant of a tree!

The tree that has been selected as this year’s Capital Tree sits a majestic 30 feet high and will be illuminated using over one mile of lights! We have been given the task of transforming this conifer to magnificence in just two days. During this time, our installers will be instilling the use of an 80 ft. articulated lift to ensure every light is placed in the perfect spot to shine brightest, as well as topping this beauty with a three-foot jeweled star.

In keeping with tradition, the Governor of TN will flip the switch to light the Capital Tree during the annual Capital Tree lighting event. Last year, the tree was brought to life amid a crowd of Tennessee’s finest as the focus of an evening filled with holiday cheer, food, entertainment and even horse & buggy rides. We anticipate this year’s event will be another showstopper and we will keep you informed when the date and time for the event has been finalized — stay tuned — more to come!
