Elements of the holiday season can be enjoyed all over Music City but, one special Christmas tree always promises to shine the brightest — the Capitol Christmas tree in downtown Nashville!

TN State Capitol Christmas Tree 2017

Outdoor Lighting Perspectives of Nashville would like to invite you to witness this the magic of the Christmas tree at the State Capitol. This is our 6th season lighting the tree and we remain honored to have been chosen for the task this year.

This year’s tree is a 35-foot Norway Spruce donated by the Mazzo family of Burns, TN. The tree weighed in at over at over 4,500 pounds and had to be removed from the Mazzo’s property by a crane.

This Christmas treasure now commands attention as it sits majestically at the State Capitol donned in classic white a lights, flashers and topped off with a glorious star. All are welcome to visit this holiday season — here is a sneak preview from our YouTube channel:

Make plans now to visit the Capitol Christmas tree! The Tennessee State Capitol is located on Charlotte Avenue between 6th and 7th Avenues in Nashville. I-24, I-40 and I-65 have signs indicating the exits to be used for the State Capitol.

Our success has never been something we take for granted and we take pride in every installation, from the smallest maintenance call to the over-the-top holiday lighting displays that require months of planning. This is our fifth consecutive year of being asked to illuminate the tree. The tree chosen to grace the capitol for holiday 2016 was cut down in Hermitage and it stands 35 feet tall and 24 feet wide. Outdoor Lighting Perspectives of Nashville is finishing the tree with a mix of glittering red and gold decorations and warm white LED lights — that’s all the details I can convey as to not to give away too many spoilers before this beauty is lit! I can however, share a few of the “in progress” images we shot while our crews were working hard to get this majestic tree ready for its unveiling…

Christmas at the Capitol 2015 Glows Brightly With This Norway Spruce!

Beautiful photo taken by Greg Pirtle. Christmas at the Capitol 2015.

Beautiful photo taken by Greg Pirtle. Christmas at the Capitol 2015.

We must be doing something quite right at Outdoor Lighting Perspectives of Nashville because we were asked for the 4th year to in a row to illuminate the Christmas tree at the capitol in downtown Nashville! We were immensely flattered and humbled that Music City had entrusted us with such an immense honor, and we couldn’t wait to make this year another bright one for our hometown of Nashville.

Details about this year’s tree:

This year’s Christmas conifer came to us via Theresa and Jimmy Carter of Old Hickory. They were the proud owners of the Norway Spruce evergreen they planted in 2001 that is now over 30 feet tall. The tree simply got too big for their property so they submitted their desire to the governor’s office to cut the tree down to use for the Nashville Christmas tree lighting celebration. A year later they discovered that their tree was in fact selected to their elation. It was then our job at Outdoor Lighting Perspectives of Nashville to make sure the Carter tree was lit up in a magical way to show it off in the best possible way and make Nashville proud.

outdoor-lighting-perspectives-of-nashville-lighting-the-2014-nashville-capital-tree-2014

We wrapped red, silver and gold string lights on this year’s tree that added up to miles of illumination. The Norway Spruce was then capped off with a mega sized star. Tanya Tucker rocked the Capitol with her hits and festive Christmas songs; and when the First Lady and Governor Haslam pushed the button the crowd went wild with excitement. The shouts of “WOW!” and “COOL!” are really what make this project so worthwhile for us in the end. Delighting kids and adults alike are what this season is all about for us, and we simply can’t wait to do it all over again next year if the opportunity arises. You can go to Legislative Plaza and check out the Carter Tree and our lighting handiwork for the entire holiday season!

Though the lighting of the Christmas tree at the Capitol is a mega sized project for Outdoor Lighting Perspectives of Nashville, we do small projects every day at regular residences and businesses just like yours and ours. Not everything is always on such a grand scale, and we are happy to do fabulous job on a budget that fits your needs and lifestyle. We treat every single project we do with the same enthusiasm, energy and level of professionalism. We work on projects all year long and not just in warm weather, so if you need a brand new outdoor lighting system or an addition to your current landscape lighting scheme—we are eager to talk to you about your ideas.

Outdoor Lighting Perspectives of Nashville chosen to light the tree for Christmas at the Capitol for 4th consecutive year!

2015 Nashville capital tree is on the way

The excitement is mounting!

Outdoor Lighting Perspectives of Nashville is honored and proud to have been chosen to light the Tennessee state capitol Christmas tree this year! This will mark our 4th consecutive year in lighting the tree. This year’s tree and celebratory “tree lighting” in the capitol promises just as much magic and family fun as year’s past. Being involved in-depth with the festivities, we do not want to  convey any “spoilers” for the event, but thus far the plans are to feature ornaments along with lights in colors of gold, silver and red. This year’s Christmas tree came from James and Theresa Carter in Madison. It is a Norwood Spruce weighing 1,700 pounds and is 27′ wide & about 30′ feet high.

The annual tree lighting event is scheduled to take place Monday, November 30th, from 5:30 pm to 6:30 pm CST. Governor Bill Haslam and his wife will be flipping the switch marking the beginning of TN holiday season in the capitol. The tree is located at the TN State Capitol at 600 Charlotte Ave., in beautiful Nashville, TN.

Outdoor Lighting Perspectives of Nashville hopes you and your family can attend this extraordinary event. To help get you in the spirit, here is a look back into the archives at the previous Christmas tree’s we have been proud to light at the capitol:

  • 2014 — Last year’s capitol  tree was adorned in over one mile of lights to illuminate this majestic tree via an 80 ft. articulated lift to ensure every light was placed in the perfect spot to shine brightest. We also topped off this beauty with a three-foot jeweled star as the finishing touch. 2014’s tree was a 55-foot Norway Spruce chosen from the Cumberland Forest, where the University of Tennessee uses roughly 8,000 acres of land for research.

  • 2013 — We chose a classic theme of red and gold for the 2013 capitol tree.

  • 2012 — The 2012 capitol tree was a majestic 30-foot Norway spruce moved to Nashville from state-owned land located in Arrington. We made sure the tree shone in its holiday best filled with over 6,000 LED lights and festive ornaments courtesy of Outdoor Lighting Perspectives of Nashville.

Centerville, TN, town square holiday lighting 2014.

Outdoor Lighting Perspectives of Nashville is proud to share the excitement in and around the Nashville region that marks the arrival of the holiday season. From homes to historic venues we are entering the “countdown” period when locales all over Middle Tennessee will be “flipping the switch” as holiday lighting brings the magic of the season to life. We have been busy designing and installing holiday lighting for many of the holiday ceremonies scheduled to take place over the coming weeks including the festivities taking place in Historic Centerville, TN.

2015 marks our 2nd consecutive year in providing the holiday outdoor lighting at the Centerville, TN, town square. Our design this year is very similar to the display we installed at last year’s event, including a mixture of classic C6 and C9 LED bulbs for nostalgia. We do have a few surprises in store for this year, but we can’t give away any spoilers just yet! The display will also be fully operable through a convenient wireless remote control.

Don’t miss the Christmas Open House at the Centerville Town Square!

Saturday, November 28th from 5-9 pm is when all the magic will happen including a live nativity scene, story telling, horse-drawn carriage rides, a children’s coat drive, music and of course Santa will be there too! Many local businesses on the square will be open late for you Christmas shopping with the courthouse lighting on schedule for 6:00 sharp!

Nashville Decorative Outdoor Lighting Delivers Endless Evening (and Daytime) Appeal with a New Twist

Nashville cafe-inspired outdoor lightingDecorative outdoor lighting is the new rage in design. Outdoor Lighting Perspectives of Nashville has a broad range of chic and trendy lights that offer something totally different from what traditional landscapers offer that come from those big home improvement stores. Our fixtures are custom-made specifically for us and proudly made in America with high quality commercial parts. We do not sell or install inferior made products made of plastic or other low-grade components that won’t survive the season before needing replacement. Our fixtures stand the test of time, and Mother Nature, to provide years of unbridled enjoyment.

Nashville festival lighting

If you are still sporting an outdated or aging halogen outdoor lighting system, it’s time to check out how much outdoor lighting has changed in recent years. Modern LED bulbs cut down on energy consumption and provide a long life, and they come in all sorts of unique genres that give lots of different benefits and appeal.

Festoon style permanent festival lighting in the Gulch.

Festoon style permanent festival lighting in the Gulch.

Permanent Festoon lights (aka festival or cafe lights) can be installed across a covered porch or deck and provide plenty of visibility as an overhead light source that delivers a swagged romantic lighting effect. They have a party feel like you’d see in outdoor festival settings or that lovely corner cafe you visiting while on vacation — we offer them in either white or in colored bulbs that are housed in small globes and we can change out the lights whenever you want a totally different effect such as during the holiday season.

Nashville Outdoor Orb LightingOrb lights are a twist on festival lighting that kick it up a notch since the globe housing that surrounds is much bigger. You can choose either 10, 12 or 16 inch globes in size (or vary them and mix it up) and it looks like these ethereal spheres are floating through the air in a mystical way. You can also get these in white, clear or in multiple colors and the effect is truly breathtaking and unusual.

Nashville decorative outdoor lighting Normally, we hide our ground level fixtures so they are very hard for anyone looking around your property to see. In some cases, the fixtures are just as pretty as the light they cast and have incredible artistic value—and this is absolutely the case with our Attraction lighting series. Custom made for us; these dazzling metal fixtures have incredible sculptural flair that sends rays of light dancing around your walkways, a retaining wall or even your home’s walls. If you are fascinated by the use of light as an art source, then these lights are right up your alley as they throw immensely interesting patterns of twirling light around an outdoor space. They even look fantastic during the day thanks to their interesting shapes and cut-outs, and no can argue how decadent these look in comparison to boring landscape lights you see in most yards.

Decorative lighting can become a work of art in the garden and landscape.

Decorative lighting can become a work of art in the garden and landscape.

If that’s not enough for you, our Starry Light fixtures uses hologram technology to shoot pinpoints of light that can be elegantly sprayed all over your home, trees or pool. They are perfect during Christmas time because it avoids the nightmare of wires and string lights that have to be taken down after the holidays. This clever light fixture plugs right in and comes in red, green, purple and blue, and it casts a fantasy land of shimmering light wherever you want it. Take a peek:

Outdoor Lighting Perspectives of Nashville want to know when you take down your holiday decorations, and why?

3d lighted LED Star Wreath

For many families, the decided day to officially take down holiday decorations is more than just a casual activity to get the home organized while you have the time off from work. Sure, many of us decide to remove our holiday decor’ simply because we feel it is time this is especially the case when the New Year has begun as a way of paying homage to renewal and the coming year ahead. The question of when to take down Christmas decorations is answered by belief and tradition for many.

Some families take down everything Dec. 26, while others wait until after New Year’s Day. Notably, some also follow the 12 days of Christmas tradition — which means the first day of Christmas is Dec. 25, not Dec. 13, with decorations coming down on Three Kings Day, also referred to as the Epiphany, which is January 6th.

The 12 days of Christmas is based on the Bible story when the three kings, or wise men,— Balthasar, Caspar and Melchior — saw a bright star on the night Jesus was born. They followed it and, 12 days later, presented their gifts to the newborn. The day of Epiphany is Jan. 6, and cultures around the world celebrate on the night before or on that day. Many customs include taking down the Christmas tree as well as a treat for children as they are allowed to eat the goodies laden on the tree or underneath it.

Loveliest holiday lighting everAccording to an article in Huffington Post, taking down decorations at the right time is important. But, when is the right time? Here are some helpful guidelines to help make the task easier to figure out…

  • By the 2nd week of January, most people will have taken down their very Christmas related decorations. Indoor decorations like the tree and its ornaments should be taken down, and holiday specific outdoor decorations like inflatables can be stored as well.
  • By the end of January, most decorations should be stored away, especially greenery, which is most likely beginning to die and can become a fire hazard.
  • If you are really attached to your decor, you could let the red, white and silver decorations do double-duty for Valentine’s Day. However, this is really for indoor decorations where it’s not as easy to tell that you just left everything up.
  • So, what’s your plan this year? Take our poll and reply in the above comment section. Outdoor Lighting Perspectives of Nashville would like to know when you and your family takes down the Christmas decorations and why?

Christmas lighting NashvilleAs part of our exclusive holiday lighting program we not only design and install your annual outdoor holiday lighting display, we also professionally remove the display and store it in our temperature controlled warehouse. Getting to “know” our customer-base is part of what makes our service a one-of-a-kind, personalized experience!
