The Excitement Mounts as Outdoor Lighting Perspectives of Nashville Lights the Capitol Tree for 5th Consecutive Year!

2016-christmas-tree-at-the-capitol-downtown-nashvilleEach and every day here at Outdoor Lighting Perspectives of Nashville we are proud and honored to serve the outdoor lighting needs for homeowners and business owners all over Nashville and the surrounding area. Our success has never been something we take for granted and we take pride in every installation, from the smallest maintenance call to the over-the-top holiday lighting displays that require months of planning. With this in mind, we cannot convey the feeling we get when we are asked to design and install a lighting display that will bring so much joy to so many — like the Christmas tree at the Capitol in downtown Nashville.

This is our fifth consecutive year of being asked to illuminate the tree. The tree chosen to grace the capitol for holiday 2016 was cut down in Hermitage and it stands 35 feet tall and 24 feet wide. Outdoor Lighting Perspectives of Nashville is finishing the tree with a mix of glittering red and gold decorations and warm white LED lights — that’s all the details I can convey as to not to give away too many spoilers before this beauty is lit! I can however, share a few of the “in progress” images we shot while our crews were working hard to get this majestic tree ready for its unveiling…

If you would like to experience the tree lighting at the capitol this year in person, the annual tree lighting ceremony is scheduled to take place Monday, November 28th, 2016, from 5:00 pm to 6:00 pm CST at the Nashville State Capitol located at 600 Charlotte Ave., Nashville. Governor Haslam will continue the tradition of flipping the switch for all to enjoy!

To help get you in the festive spirit and in honor of all the Christmases past, Outdoor Lighting Perspectives of Nashville has put together a little video featuring the last four years of having the honor to be involved with this amazing project…enjoy!

Christmas at the Capitol 2015 Glows Brightly With This Norway Spruce!

We must be doing something quite right at Outdoor Lighting Perspectives of Nashville because we were asked for the 4th year to in a row to illuminate the Christmas tree at the capitol in downtown Nashville! We were immensely flattered and humbled that Music City had entrusted us with such an immense honor, and we couldn’t wait to make this year another bright one for our hometown of Nashville.

Details about this year’s tree:

This year’s Christmas conifer came to us via Theresa and Jimmy Carter of Old Hickory. They were the proud owners of the Norway Spruce evergreen they planted in 2001 that is now over 30 feet tall. The tree simply got too big for their property so they submitted their desire to the governor’s office to cut the tree down to use for the Nashville Christmas tree lighting celebration. A year later they discovered that their tree was in fact selected to their elation. It was then our job at Outdoor Lighting Perspectives of Nashville to make sure the Carter tree was lit up in a magical way to show it off in the best possible way and make Nashville proud.

We wrapped red, silver and gold string lights on this year’s tree that added up to miles of illumination. The Norway Spruce was then capped off with a mega sized star. Tanya Tucker rocked the Capitol with her hits and festive Christmas songs; and when the First Lady and Governor Haslam pushed the button the crowd went wild with excitement. The shouts of “WOW!” and “COOL!” are really what make this project so worthwhile for us in the end. Delighting kids and adults alike are what this season is all about for us, and we simply can’t wait to do it all over again next year if the opportunity arises. You can go to Legislative Plaza and check out the Carter Tree and our lighting handiwork for the entire holiday season!

Though the lighting of the Christmas tree at the Capitol is a mega sized project for Outdoor Lighting Perspectives of Nashville, we do small projects every day at regular residences and businesses just like yours and ours. Not everything is always on such a grand scale, and we are happy to do fabulous job on a budget that fits your needs and lifestyle. We treat every single project we do with the same enthusiasm, energy and level of professionalism. We work on projects all year long and not just in warm weather, so if you need a brand new outdoor lighting system or an addition to your current landscape lighting scheme—we are eager to talk to you about your ideas.

Outdoor Lighting Perspectives of Nashville chosen to light the tree for Christmas at the Capitol for 4th consecutive year!

2015 Nashville capital tree is on the way

The excitement is mounting!

Outdoor Lighting Perspectives of Nashville is honored and proud to have been chosen to light the Tennessee state capitol Christmas tree this year! This will mark our 4th consecutive year in lighting the tree. This year’s tree and celebratory “tree lighting” in the capitol promises just as much magic and family fun as year’s past. Being involved in-depth with the festivities, we do not want to  convey any “spoilers” for the event, but thus far the plans are to feature ornaments along with lights in colors of gold, silver and red. This year’s Christmas tree came from James and Theresa Carter in Madison. It is a Norwood Spruce weighing 1,700 pounds and is 27′ wide & about 30′ feet high.

The annual tree lighting event is scheduled to take place Monday, November 30th, from 5:30 pm to 6:30 pm CST. Governor Bill Haslam and his wife will be flipping the switch marking the beginning of TN holiday season in the capitol. The tree is located at the TN State Capitol at 600 Charlotte Ave., in beautiful Nashville, TN.

Outdoor Lighting Perspectives of Nashville hopes you and your family can attend this extraordinary event. To help get you in the spirit, here is a look back into the archives at the previous Christmas tree’s we have been proud to light at the capitol:

  • 2014 — Last year’s capitol  tree was adorned in over one mile of lights to illuminate this majestic tree via an 80 ft. articulated lift to ensure every light was placed in the perfect spot to shine brightest. We also topped off this beauty with a three-foot jeweled star as the finishing touch. 2014’s tree was a 55-foot Norway Spruce chosen from the Cumberland Forest, where the University of Tennessee uses roughly 8,000 acres of land for research.

  • 2012 — The 2012 capitol tree was a majestic 30-foot Norway spruce moved to Nashville from state-owned land located in Arrington. We made sure the tree shone in its holiday best filled with over 6,000 LED lights and festive ornaments courtesy of Outdoor Lighting Perspectives of Nashville.

Oh, the places you’ll go — a look into the notable locations we are lighting in and around Nashville:

Orb lighting used at Arrington Vineyards in Arrington TN

Festival lighting installed at Arrington Vineyards in Arrington, TN.

It is usually a no-brainer when someone mentions Nashville the image that flashes in your mind is a guitar-holding, cowboy hat wearing musician, hard-working and hungry to be at the right place at the right time. After all, this is Music City, the place where dreams come true. Nashville is steeped in music history, being home to the Grand Ole’ Opry and noted as the birthplace of country music. Nashville has evolved to become the “go to” destination  from nearly every walk of life for a myriad of reasons in addition to our musical roots.

Music cityBeing in the midst of Nashville’s evolution into a top-notch city has made our business very interesting. Of course, we have designed and installed outdoor lighting for many of the top musical artists that reside in, and around Nashville. Although we cannot name any names as to ensure their privacy, it is exciting to see who answers the door sometimes when we come to call!

Our commercial outdoor lighting service is filled with just as much intrigue as our residential installations. Having the opportunity to transform and beautify some of the most popular locations in the area is quite humbling. Each time I reflect on the well-known places where we have installed lighting that are often in the spotlight (no pun intended), it reminds me of the famous Dr. Seuss book, “Oh the Places You’ll Go.” When we began Outdoor Lighting Perspectives of Nashville over 25 years ago, we never would have imagined the places we would go — literally. With this in mind, here is a look at just a few of the well-known locations where we have worked magic with the addition of outdoor lighting:

The Country Music Hall of Fame: The Country Music Hall of Fame® and Museum is operated by the non-profit, educational Country Music Foundation® (CMF). The mission of the Country Music Hall of Fame® and Museum is to identify and preserve the evolving history and traditions of country music and to educate its audiences. The location of the venue adds a strikingly modern touch to the Nashville skyline, and Outdoor Lighting Perspectives of Nashville enhanced the majesty of this location with the addition of outdoor lighting!

Loving the LovelessThe Loveless Cafe: You simply cannot visit Nashville without planning a visit to this iconic eatery. The Loveless’ biscuits are so loved that they have earned mention on their  T-shirts! The Loveless has been a fixture in the Nashville area for over sixty years. With a diverse history, the cafe serves up true Southern staples like fried chicken, country ham and, of course, those mouth-watering biscuits. Since its beginning in the 1940’s, the cafe has evolved to include The Loveless Barn ,which is a 4,800 sq. ft. venue that has become the trendiest place around for large-scale events, parties and even weddings.  The Loveless Barn is also home to Music City Roots: Live from the Loveless Cafe which is filmed and recorded there every Wednesday.

Outdoor Lighting Perspectives of Nashville provided the lovely holiday lighting for the Loveless last year, and is honored to provide it again this year. The venue plans to kick off the season at their Bright Lights & Biscuits event set to kick off on November 17th! This year’s holiday lighting promised to be even more enchanting!

The Gulch: The Gulch is known among Nashville’s residents to be one of the trendiest and “hippest” neighborhoods around. Not only is The Gulch a popular destination for locals, college students and visitors, it is the first neighborhood in the South to be deemed an LEED certified green neighborhood! The area is packed with urban appeal including office space, retails shops, restaurants, new and renovated buildings and a residential area. You may have even see the Gulch featured in a recent episode of the hit show Nashville!

Outdoor Lighting Perspectives of Nashville has provided outdoor lighting at many of the trendiest locations within The Gulch. During the past holiday season we adorned all of the light poles within this unforgettable location with bows and garlands in honor of the holiday season. We also installed permanent festival lighting along the corridors of the Gulch, making it come to life!

Arrington Vineyards: Since 2007, Arrington Vineyards has been providing a true “wine country experience” of award-winning wines set among the picturesque rolling hills of middle Tennessee. Owned by country music artist Kix Brooks, winemaker Kip Summers, and entrepreneur John Russell, Arrington Vineyards has truly become “Nashville’s Wine Country”.

Outdoor Lighting Perspectives of Nashville was honored to play a part in making this venue more enchanting by installing permanent orb lighting within the trees located on the property. Outdoor Lighting Perspectives of Nashville lights the capital tree in Nashville for the second consecutive year!

Outdoor Lighting Perspectives of Nashville was chosen to light the Nashville Capital Christmas tree for the second consecutive year. Our diligent efforts came to fruition as the Governor, Bill Haslam and his wife, Crissy, kicked off Christmas in the capital with the annual tree lighting ceremony this past Monday.

The tree selected as this year’s Capital Tree is 55-foot Norway Spruce chosen from the Cumberland Forest, where the University of Tennessee uses the roughly 8,000 acres of land for research, due to a storm that hit Nashville a few years ago. Outdoor Lighting Perspectives of Nashville is using over one mile of lights to illuminate this majestic tree via an 80 ft. articulated lift to ensure every light is placed in the perfect spot to shine brightest. We are also topping this beauty with a three-foot jeweled star as the finishing touch.

WBIR-TV out of Eastern Tennessee recently aired a segment outlining the selection of the majestic tree chosen as this year’s annual Christmas conifer. The WBIR article pointed out that up until this year, the state capitol had been using a donated tree.  This year’s  tree was carefully selected from the Cumberland Forest after it was used in a University of Tennessee study on growing Christmas trees on abandoned strip mines where it was planted as part of the study back in 1985.

In 2009, when a windstorm blew over the capitol Christmas tree and urgent help was needed  for a replacement, the Cumberland Forest was there to lend a hand. Upon receiving the news, they immediately began looking around the property and submitted a few pictures of some trees that could serve as a quickly needed replacement.

A first look at the tree chosen to become the TN Capital Tree for the 2013 holiday season!

We are very honored to announce Outdoor Lighting Perspectives of Nashville  has been chosen to light the Capital Tree in Nashville for the upcoming holiday season.  The tree will be lit in honor of the 2013 Christmas season and marks the second year Outdoor Lighting Perspectives of Nashville has been asked to design and install the annual lighting for the tree which will be  located in the Legislative Plaza in downtown Nashville for all to enjoy! In 2012, the Capital Tree was an evergreen in excess of 30 feet. We used approximately 4,000 LED C7 lights which were carefully selected and placed within the tree along with red and gold ornaments to make it shine like a jewel against the Nashville skyline. This year’s tree promises to be even more breathtaking than its predecessor as we are filled with anticipation to begin lighting this lovely giant of a tree!

In keeping with tradition, the Governor of TN will flip the switch to light the Capital Tree during the annual Capital Tree lighting event. Outdoor Lighting Perspectives of Nashville lights this years Christmas tree at the Tennessee Capitol to rave reviews

Capital holiday tree lighting

Governor Haslam and the First Lady at the tree lighting ceremony Monday night.

Outdoor Lighting Perspectives of Nashville was proud to be a part of the kickoff to the TN holiday season. Amid a flurry of guests brimming over with holiday spirit, Governor Bill Haslam and first lady Crissy Haslam lit the Christmas tree at the Tennessee Capitol Monday evening. The Tree, which is a majestic 30-foot Norway spruce, features over 6,000 LED lights and festive ornaments courtesy of Outdoor Lighting Perspectives of Nashville. The tree stands three feet taller than last year’s tree and holds twice as many lights.

The tree was moved to Nashville from state-owned land located in Arrington in honor of the annual Capitol tree lighting which took place Monday, November 26th.

As the Governor and his wife lit the tree, the transition from dark to watching the tree come alive with the Capitol building as the backdrop was truly magical. Even as rain sprinkled from the sky, you could hear the reaction of the crowd as a unified sound of enchantment. Nashville’s WKRN TV News 2 was there to film the event and you can watch a video of  the tree being lit here;  http://www.wkrn.com/story/20187317/nashville-christmas-tree-lighting-ceremony

This image shows the majestic 30 foot Norway spruce just before it was lit for the first time across from the capitol building.

The event for state employees, their families and the public was held on the plaza across from the Capitol building. The evening celebrations also included horse and carriage rides, a visit from Santa and recording artist Chris Young and even a reindeer named Comet. This event will definitely be held close to the hearts of our Outdoor Lighting Perspectives of Nashville’s crew. All the planning, design and teamwork that went into lighting this tree paid off when the tree was lit for the first time. We will always remember the moment, and are proud to have played such a crucial role in making the evening a success!
